La montée au jardin

For a few posts, VDP is taking you to the fairly recent public garden that now links Chantiers neighbourhood and its train station to Avenue de Sceaux, enabling a much shorter walk for commuters! If you turn left just before those steps, you'll take an alley to Chantiers train station (which is itself undergoing huge works). If you walk up the stairs, you end up in the public garden.

Pour quelques jours, VDP va vous emmener au jardin des étangs Gobert. En fait, un vrai raccourci a été créé (qu'on emprunte ici à gauche avant l'escalier) entre l'avenue de Sceaux et la gare des Chantiers...

The Cottages

A row of pretty 19th century cottages tucked away beneath the towering Shard and other high rise buildings that surround London Bridge.

The "Winchester Cottages" built in 1890 were part of social housing and other charitable projects in this area that were common during this period.  I will explore this area and research further to find you the stories to tell you.

Rainbow flags of Tel Aviv

Tel Aviv has long been known in the world as a very gay-friendly city.

Here are some of Tel Aviv's many rainbow flags that I photographed a week ago, way before yesterday's decision by the U.S. Supreme Court.

Back In The Nest

The Cardinals, who have by far the best record in baseball this season, were back in town last night after a long road trip. Another sellout. No doubt they sold a lot of the beverage advertised on this bus shelter.

The opponent was the despised Chicago Cubs. The poor Cubbies, one of the oldest teams in Major League Baseball, have not won the championship in 106 years. You may see people walking around downtown wearing tee shirts that read "CUBS - Completely Useless By September."                         

Tree Top

A lone tree grows on a pillar of quartz and sandstone in China’s Zhangjiajie National Forest Park. There are more than 3,000 such peaks in the Hunan Province park, part of a UNESCO World Heritage site. Its diverse landscape—dense forest, gullies, cliffs, and valleys—shelter macaque and rhesus monkeys, pangolins, and Chinese giant salamanders, as well as rare birds and trees.
