UP IN THE AIR, JUNIOR BIRD GIRL

We are back in Kansas City, which means that Ellie insisted on another visit to iFLY, which bills itself as indoor skydiving. https://www.iflyworld.com/ .  That's reasonably accurate. She has had enough experience now that she can go up about 30 feet / 10 meters with instructor. She is absolutely fearless. More! There are plans for one of these in St. Louis.       

AT THE LIBRARY - EVEN THE STAIRWAYS ARE ELEGANT

Still at the central branch of the St. Louis Public Library. Two main stairways face each other across the center entrance hall. They are less ornate than some of the rooms but give me the sense that you are ascending into something important. I wish I had better pictures of the stained glass windows on the landings. This one is a allegory of the arts of poetry and music.

Off to Kansas City again this afternoon. We hope we dodge the storms that are again rolling through the area. Tomorrow further into the Kansas prairie for a gathering of Mrs. C's family.            

SOME READING, SOME SHOOTING

The opposite side of the large reading room at Central Library Branch, behind where I was standing for yesterday's post. There are people reading or on their laptops at the tables. The woman in the entry, the man in the pink shirt and the one in the yellow shirt on the floor are participants in the photography workshop.              

CENTRAL LIBRARY READING ROOM

This is the main reading room of the restored St. Louis Central Library, giving a sense of its architectural grace. The low light and warmth of the honey-colored stone makes it feel quieter than the usual library hush. The view is from the middle of the room. Behind me are a number of dark heavy oak tables and chairs. The library often has special exhibits thaat are set up in this open areaa.
