We're Not Talking About Oregano

Just up the flood wall. You see this in a lot of places around town but this is the biggest and brightest version ever.

Plenty to shoot around here this weekend.

Art Research

I was contacted last week by a student at St. Louis University, my alma mater. She and two friends were doing a presentation for a communications class about our graffiti-permitted flood wall, its artistic merit, place in the community and public reaction. They found some of the several posts on this blog about the wall (this one in particular) and sent me an email. Could they interview me? Sure. I'm an old Billiken, too. Happy to help.

We met late yesterday at he wall. Paint Louis, the annual re-do of the wall, happened a couple of weeks ago and I totally missed it. Still, it was all new and fresh, sort of an annual rebirth. Aubra, Jacqueline and Hanna put me in front of this section and did a video Q & A session. After I was done they stopped any passer-by they could find. The runner in the bottom photo was from Portland, Oregon. He didn't know much about the wall but he liked it.

Madeleine Monday: Fire Chief

Madeleine wanted to do everything at the Christ Lutheran Church anniversary festival. The municipality brought over a fire truck and police car for the kids and their parents to check out. Our tyke is ready to drive the big red truck away, even though she may not be able to see over the dashboard, let alone reach the pedals. Note that she insisted on putting her seat belt by herself.

Webster Groves is a nice place to live. We are an older, inner ring suburb of the city proper with lots of community services, many restaurants, good schools, and a wide variety of architecture. Our home is 11 miles from my office, a straight shot down the Interstate. The Crowe family has lived here for something between 25 and 30 years. When I was a kid riding the New York subway I would never have dreamed I'd end up here but no regrets at all.

Sensual centaur

.

When was the last time you saw a CENTAUR?!?
I saw this one at Beer Sheva's Old City street fair during Sukkot three years ago.
I remember well his strong silent presence, the menacing look he gave to each passerby, his face, his muscles . . . .
Enlarge the photo, see what I mean.

For Oct. 1st Theme Day our City Daily Photo blogger group came up with the theme "sensual."
Of the more than 26 entries so far, I note that the majority focus on females, so I am adding a MAN.
Well, at least a half-man.
