Ketchup, moutarde, huile pimentée...

Café Avenue de Paris in Versailles
Strange weather lately. We've gone from stormy (here) to 15°C (59°F) and back up to 30°C (86°F) in two days... This was last Saturday on Avenue de Paris, it was hot!

Bizarres les caprices du temps... En une semaine nous somme passés de la tempête (c'était ici) à 15°C puis à 30°C ! Ça, c'était samedi dernier avenue de Paris, chaud !

Wireless promotion from the '70s

Viewed from Sussex Street, this mural is on a building which fronts Dixon Street in Chinatown. Installed in the 1970s, it is an advertisement for Radio Station 2KY. Before it faded, it read: "2KY Wireless radio, a country smile in the middle of your dial".

Hart Cottage at Glen Avon Farm

I told you a little bit of the history of Glen Avon Farm and the historic Glen Avon Watermill outside Somerset East in my previous post.  Glen Avon has a number of other old buildings on the property with the oldest being Hart Cottage.  Built around 1817, Hart Cottage is the only remaining of three of the original cottages built on the farm.  It's was painstakingly renovated and is being used as self catering accommodation for visitors to the farm.  In the background on the right is one of the farm's two old homesteads.

Polar Protest

A giant polar bear, as big as a double-decker bus and with an almighty roar, loud enough to make you jump, is sitting outside Shell oil company's Southbank  headquarters.

What's it all about?  Other than creating amusement for unsuspecting tourists wandering by.  It is a Greenpeace protest about Shell's drilling in the Alaskan Arctic.

Crysanthemums

Lantern Festival MoBot 2015-08-28 19

Just down the line there was a pathway lined with big electric chrysanthemums. They were spectacular, but you might prefer the natural version. This kind does work better at night.
